On Tuesday, October 24, learners at Lenz High settled down to write their final matric exams – they received support from an unlikely group – former students of the school, members of the Power of 1000.
The group gifted matriculants with a bookmark, accompanied by a motivational quote and an energy bar. The energy bar was a symbolic gesture – symbolizing the energy needed for the last hurdle to the finishing of their high school careers. An energy bar packed with the hopes and dreams of every parent, student and the energy of the committee members of the ‘Power of 1000’.
Principal Ms Hawa Bibi Munshi, has been an inspiration to the ‘Power of 1000’ initiative with her dedication and commitment to becoming the driving force behind a school that has existed since 1955.
The Power of 1000 is a fund that has been initiated by former students of Lenz High and is seeking to find 1000 former students to contribute R200 a year towards excellence at the school that shaped them.
